Adjusts the amount of sample rate reduction. As with bit crushing, 'Ruin' also results in a more noisy sound, which in X results in a completely different sound after the X engine. Using 'Ruin' in X is a very effective way for sound design.
It all begins with the sources, which are sample sets especially and exclusively recorded and tweaked for use with FX-convolution. You can choose three source sounds at a time, adjust their volume on the Quick Edit page and change all other parameters including insert effects or modulations in the Pro-Edit-Page. The resulting sound can then be modified with Pre-X and Post-X effects and especially the X-engine.
The X-engine is a sophisticated convolution module which is based on effect impulse responses, the so called X-Files. X-Files are impulse responses, recorded and created specifically for FX convolution, which shape, twist, filter, reverse, deepen, morph and even destroy and rebuild sounds. The dry/wet ration between the original and the X'ed sounds is controlled via the modulation wheel and shown graphically by the X-eye in the middle of the interface.
The Pre-X engine is a combination of effects, which prepare the source sound for the X-engine.
The Post-X engine features a combination of effects, which processes the sound coming from the X-engine.
On/off switch for the first source sound.
On/off switch for the dirt section with 'Blast', 'Crush' and 'Ruin'.
On/off switch for the arpeggiator. The arpeggiator automatically runs in sync with the host tempo.
On/off switch for the groove module. The grooves will automatically run in sync with the host tempo.
On/off switch for the Contour module. Contour is based on different kinds of compression.
On/off switch for the delay module. The delay will automatically run in sync with the host tempo.
On/off switch for the rotate panning effect.
On/off switch for the color section.
On/off switch for the filter section.
On/off switch for the space section, i.e. an additional convolution module with different reverb impulse responses.
On/off switch for the X-engine. If switched to off, you will hear the source sound including the pre-X and post-X effects, but without convolution. In this case the mod wheel does not have any function. If switched on, the dry/wet ratio is controlled via the modwheel.
On/off switch for the second source sound.
On/off switch for the third source sound.
Choose one of the three possible source sounds. These are divided into 'Attack' and 'Sustain' sounds. Among the 'Attack' sounds you will also find 'Release' sounds, which are triggered when releasing a key.
Choose one of over a thousand X-files which range from simple filters to spheres, tonal effects, morphs and different loops.

Adjusts the volume of the first source sound.
Adjusts the amount of tube distortion.
Adjusts the amount of bit crushing. The more bit-crushing, the more noisy the sounds get. Keep in mind that in X, noise completely transforms the original tonal material. So using 'Crush' in X is a very effective tool for sound design.
Adjusts the volume ratio between the original source sound, including the Pre-X effects and the sound processed by the X-Engine. The X-Factor is also controlled by the modulation wheel and illustrated by the color of the X-eye in the middle of the interface.
Adjusts the length of the X-file, that is the corresponding impulse response. If you chooses a long spherical sound for instance, you can shorten or lengthen it likewise an reverb. If you choose a loop, the size changes to BPM (beats per minute) and is synced to the host tempo, if the sync button is pressed.
Shortens the volume envelope of the X-file, leading to a shorter effect while leaving the X-file itself untouched. If, for instance, you choose an X-file with a length of 2 seconds and reduce the X-Time to one second, only the first second of the X-file will effect the source sound. If you use X-size instead, the X-file will be time-compressed to one second, so the whole X-file will effect the source sound, but with doubled speed.
Changes the pitch of the X-file in halftones or, when pressing the shift knob, in cents. This way you radically change the effect of the X-file, but also adjust it to the correct key, when using tonal X-files.
Adjusts the input volume of the X-engine. This is useful, if the volume of the source sound is either too low or too hot leading to distortion.
Adjusts the output volume of the X-engine.
Adjusts the amount of contour. This refers to different parameters of compression like threshold, ratio, attack or release time.
Adjusts the dry/wet ratio for the delay unit.
Rotate is the stereo panning module. "Strength" adjusts the amount of pan modulation. Center position corresponds to no stereo effect, turning clockwise enforces the panning effect, going counter clockwise inverts the panning effect.
Adjusts the amount of additional reverb.

You can assign midi controllers to every controller on the X user interface. These settings can be stored as an automation preset
When pressing 'sync', the tempo (that is the size) of the X-file is linked to the host tempo. This is useful, when using loops as X-files.
Reverses the X-file. This way every X-file can create a reverse effect, if the X-factor is on 100%.
Displays the value of the X parameters as a mouse-over effect.
